FAQs

What are CEUs?

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized unit of measure for non-credit continuing education programs. It is used to document learning that differs from the traditional academic learning experience and has become vital as a means of determining the value of a learning experience in continuing education and training.

How are CEUs calculated?

One CEU is defined as ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience. Fractions of units can also be awarded (5 hours = 0.5 units).

How much do CEUs cost?

Participants can register up to 2.0 CEUs for an administration fee of $20.00. Any credit awarded above 2.0 will be based on the following sliding scale.

$25 for 2.1 to 2.5 CEUs
$30 for 2.6 to 3.0 CEUs
$35 for 3.1 to 3.5 CEUs
$40 for 3.6 to 4.0 CEUs

Where are my CEUs registered?

The Center for Continuing Education provides the service of maintaining a permanent registry for 20 years for professional development (non-credit) activities meeting the criteria for Continuing Education Units.

How can I be sure of quality programming?

Mississippi State University has been issuing CEUs for programming since the university guidelines were established in 1981, and has worked to assure the quality of the national criteria and establish those guidelines as the accepted standard of measure for all continuing education programs. These nationally adopted criteria are applied to all program design and activities accepted by the MSU Center for Continuing Education.

When will I get my CEUs?

After a workshop/conference has ended, the partners will send completed participant forms to the Center for Continuing Education for processing. Upon receipt of the participant forms, CEU Certificates will be processed and mailed within 2 business days.
